The Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) unexpectedly announced that Jack Dixon had upgraded from Moto2 to MotoGP and participated in a British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Scheduled for the weekend of August 27-29, Dixon will replace Franco Morbidelli, who is still recovering from knee surgery.

Morbidelli’s seat on the SRT YZR-M1 was initially filled by Yamaha test driver Cal Crutchlow, who competed in SRT colors at the Styria and Austrian Grand Prix in Austria.
