In the foreseeable future, Alfa Romeo’s name will remain in Formula One, and the Italian brand has signed a new multi-year agreement with Sauber Racing. The automaker said that the new partnership will include annual evaluations and an ambitious goal of “progress year by year.”
As F1 will undergo major regulatory changes in 2022, the racing team believes that it can “take a substantial step forward” because of their “lean and agile” settings and the budget cap they introduced in 2022.
“As an Italian car brand with a long history, Alfa Romeo was born on the track. Today, we are proud to continue to respect the racing DNA by placing it at the core of our brand’s future. We are driven by passion and excellence,” Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato (Jean-Philippe Imparato) said.

In 2018, the Italian brand returned to motorsport after more than 30 years. Signed with Sauber Formation of the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team. The name of the team will be changed to Alfa Romeo Racing in 2019, and then called Alfa Romeo Racing Ollen in 2020 and the current 2022 season.
The team’s initial drivers in 2018 were Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc, but in the following season, the Ferrari-powered car was driven by Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi.Like most partners, Alfa Romeo has transferred the knowledge gained on the track to its production cars, such as Julia GTA and GTAm.
