The police said that in Gwadar, a vehicle carrying Chinese citizens was hit by a bomb, killing two children and injuring three.

Police officials said a suicide bombing in a car carrying Chinese citizens in Gwadar, Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan killed two children and injured three.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Friday’s attack.

“Two children were killed in the attack and three were injured,” Liaquat Shahwani, a spokesman for the Balochistan government, told Reuters.

The suicide bombing occurred on Dongwan Road in the port city of Gwadar at around 7pm (14:00 GMT). The police statement stated that the Chinese citizen was slightly injured.

Separatist fighters launched a protracted armed uprising in Balochistan.

Earlier this month, a bus attack occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, killing 13 people, including 9 Chinese workers and 2 Pakistani soldiers.

China is actively participating in the development of Gwadar Port in the Arabian Sea as part of the US$60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is part of China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
