Back in December, Citroen turned its small, low-speed electric Ami into a chunky little beach cruiser called the My Ami Buggy. With fat tires and a bunch of off-road accessories, it’s probably more of form than function, but it’s a fun and funky little thing. Apparently many agree that Citroen has decided to bring the My Ami Buggy to life, albeit in a very limited number.
Like this concept, the My Ami Buggy features unique khaki plastic body panels. It also selects various exterior panels from higher-trim Pop and Vibe variants, such as bumpers, wheel arches, rear spoiler, and more. There are other concept-inspired touches such as lime-yellow accents and arrows and a contrasting black roof.
In the transition to production, some things did change. The production model doesn’t have doors, but rather tube doors, like you’ll find on many modified Jeep Wranglers. The extra fat tires and small wheels gave way to more practical big wheels and conventional tires. The khaki gold and black center cap wheels look great, though. No more roof racks or auxiliary lights, but the tradeoff is that the My Ami Buggy gets a canvas roll-back roof for greater open-air enjoyment.
The interior of the My Ami Buggy features black fabric upholstery with buff stitching and other accents, as well as some interior storage options. Floor mats continue the color scheme. Like all special editions, the car will receive special badges and license plates, one of which is probably the best wording ever: “MY Ami Buggy ULTRA SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION”.
Only 50 off-road vehicles will be produced, and all will be sold in France. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but it’s an ultra-limited-edition car that might be affordable. After all, the base Ami starts at less than $10,000. If you happen to live in France and want to buy one, they’re going on sale online July 21st, with shipping starting August 8th.
