The Plenary of Congress will hold an extraordinary session next week to validate the plan with the savings measures and two other decree laws, as well as three bills that the Senate modified last July, including the Science Law and the of Sexual Freedom.

Parliamentary sources have confirmed that the Government has requested the holding of this plenary session, which is extraordinary given that the Constitution establishes that the months of July and August are outside the ordinary period of sessions.

The president of the Congress, the socialist Meritxell Batet, will be the one to convene the plenary session for Thursday, August 25, at nine o’clock in the morning.

And in accordance with the request of the Government, the agenda will include the debate and vote on the last three decree laws approved by the Government, which although they are already in force, must be validated by Congress within 30 days from their date. publication.

Among them, the decree law on economic sustainability measures in the field of transport, which includes the energy saving plan, whose first measures have been applied since last week.

This extraordinary plenary session will also serve for your honors to pronounce on the decree that updates the basic legislation on forest fires and that requires annual prevention planning, approved at the beginning of the month, and on the one that contains the new contribution system for self-employed workers, approved at the end of July.

Validation of decrees

But that session will not only be for the validation of decrees, but will also be used to definitively approve the Organic Law of comprehensive guarantee of sexual freedom, known as the ‘only yes is yes’ law, the Bankruptcy Law and the Law of Science.

The Government hoped that the Senate would approve these regulations before the summer break, but in the plenary session that took place the third week of July, the Upper House introduced several amendments and the texts have to return to Congress.

The Senate plenary session was also unable to give the green light in July to the new Law on Science, Technology and Innovation.
