So if you’ve been thinking about making some sustainable changes to your beauty routine, there’s no better time than Earth Day to start adopting these tips!

Why is sustainable beauty important?
For those of you reading this by accident, this might not even be what you think of. A friend of mine is very cautious about this and asked me to share some tips, because one of the keys to making sustainable choices is to understand why these conscious decisions are important in the first place.

Sustainable beauty is important because it helps preserve essential resources. From the plastic packaging and rigid materials used in the packaging of beauty products to the ingredients used, they all rely on available resources.

Making some sustainable changes to your grooming routine can help slow the depletion of natural resources.

Choose sustainable packaging
When shopping for a deodorant or looking for a new moisturizer, look for recyclable or recyclable products included in the packaging (or both).

This shouldn’t be hard to do thanks to increased industry awareness.Look for sustainable makeup Use glass instead of plastic or use easily recyclable materials for your skincare packaging.

Recycle your beauty products
After switching to recyclable products, make sure to recycle them.Find a plan to return an empty product for free (or return them for bonus points for free products), Or put the packaging in the recycling bin when finished.

Reuse your beauty packaging
Many brands now offer reusable packaging and offer refills instead of buying brand new ones.

Repurpose your beauty products
Many products can be used for other purposes after use. For example, drum packs can be used to store makeup brushes. Mascara wands make great brow and lash brushes. Or you can use an old toothbrush to tame wild hair or use as a lip exfoliator.

conserve water
Americans use about 100 gallons of water in their homes every day. A lot of water is wasted because many of us haven’t gotten rid of the bad habit of letting water run when washing our faces or brushing our teeth, which results in a lot of water going unused down the drain.

Turn off tap water when:

  • wash your face
  • exfoliate your skin
  • brush teeth
  • shampoo
  • shave legs
  • Lather up your body wash

Dry shampoo is your best friend

add them up
No matter how small some of the advice above may seem, each of us has a role to play. Sadly for us, beauty lovers, the beauty industry and beauty companies are the biggest polluters in the world.

Billions of beauty and personal care packaging are sold each year, most of which are never recycled, repurposed or reused. They just end up in landfills. So you separate, no matter how small it may seem, because every little bit counts!
