The incident took place in the city of Madras in southern India on the Bay of Bengal. A 40-year-old woman was returning in a friend’s taxi from her native village.

When they were on the city’s beltway, an unknown man blocked their way. As the driver stopped, five more men jumped from the side of the road and attacked the taxi driver.

The man tried to defend himself, but was pacified. The vehicle was seized by the attackers who threatened the woman traveling in the taxi that she would be killed if she tried to escape. Then they drove off to a more secluded place.

The 40-year-old girl was robbed of her jewelry and then gang raped. Fortunately, the taxi driver managed to contact the police, who went to help the attacked woman.

The officers who arrived and detained one of the torturers. The rest fled. Their happiness, however, did not last long – soon they all fell into the hands of the police.

Men aged 19 to 29 have heard the accusations. They were charged with kidnapping, robbery and gang rape.

Police said all attackers were under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the incident. A 40-year-old woman was hospitalized, where she is undergoing treatment. She was also provided with psychological assistance.
