After months of waiting, the 2022 NHL Draft was officially released.
Over the course of two days (July 23-24), 223 players will learn where they have the opportunity to pursue their professional hockey dreams. Note that there are 224 positions, but the Coyotes had to abandon their first round match.
Entering the first round on Friday, the Sabres won the overall draft for the second time in four years. As of now, Irving Ball is the expected top player, but Buffalo did bring back Rasmus Darling in 2018, so they may not want another team defender. Therefore, whether they go to another blue line, change positions or trade picks is anyone’s guess.

The 2022 edition also witnessed Kraken’s first choice. They will follow Sabres in the first round. This marks the sixth time in the past 45 years that a team has been selected to the top two for the sixth time. The last second-ranked team was the Predators, when they took David Lewand away.
