Social media is one of the best ways to amplify your brand and the great content you’re creating. But it’s not enough to just post content to social media when you like it — sometimes it works better than others.

So, when is the best time to post on every social media channel in 2022? We surveyed more than 300 social media marketers in the US and got the answers.

Before we dive into the specifics of each platform, it’s important to note that in our survey, we asked respondents to answer in their current time zone – 38% of respondents were in the Eastern time zone. Keep this in mind as you review the information and see how it applies to your brand.

Best time to post on Instagram

In 2022, Instagram has more than 2 billion monthly users, most of whom access the platform from mobile devices.

  • On average, the best time to post on Instagram across industries is in the mid to late afternoon, especially between 6-9 pm, 3-6 pm, and 9-12 pm
  • The best day to post on Instagram is Saturday. The worst is Monday. However, when comparing B2C and B2B brands, the former reported that Saturday was the best day, while the latter said Friday.
  • The worst times to post are:
    • 6 am to 9 am
    • 9pm to 12am
    • 12 noon to 3 pm

One of the industries that reported great success in the 12-3pm time frame was manufacturing and materials, with 50% of respondents saying it was the best time to post.

When it comes to the best time to post, marketers report nearly the same numbers on Facebook as they do on Instagram.

  • On average, the best time to post on Facebook across industries is in the mid to late afternoon, especially between 6pm-9pm, 3pm-6pm, and 9pm-12pm
  • The best day to post on Instagram is Saturday. The worst is Monday.
  • The worst times to post are:

    • 9pm to 12am
    • 12 noon to 3 pm

The industries with more successful morning postings are agriculture, food and beverage brands, with 50% choosing between 9am and 12pm as the best time to post on Facebook. Additionally, 100% of the travel and hospitality brand marketers surveyed chose this time frame.

The text-based social media platform is known for attracting both early morning users who use the app for news and night owls who want to share their late night thoughts.

However, the data suggests that the best time to reach users is in the afternoon, between noon and 9pm

About 28% of US adults use LinkedIn to network and share their professional results. Not surprisingly, it’s the only social platform to report weekdays as one of the hottest release dates.

  • The best days to post are Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.
  • The worst days were Monday and Friday.

Best time to post on Pinterest

  • The best time to post on Pinterest is between 6pm and 9pm
  • The second most popular time is noon to 3 p.m., as chosen by surveyed marketers in construction, financial services, agriculture, food and beverage, chemicals and metals, consumer goods manufacturing, and travel and hospitality.
  • Twenty-two percent of B2C brands say Sunday is the best time to post on Pinterest, compared to just 6 percent of B2B brands. Conversely, only 2% of B2C brands chose Monday, compared to 13% of B2B brands.

  • Twenty-five percent of marketers surveyed recommend launching on a Saturday, while 23% say Friday is the best day to launch.
  • Monday to Wednesday are the worst days to post on the platform, and 6am to 9am is also early morning

Since 2020, TikTok has become the preferred short video platform for Gen Z and millennial consumers.

  • The best times to post are 6pm-9pm, 3pm-6pm and 12pm-3pm
  • For B2B brands, Saturdays and Thursdays are the best times to post. For B2C brands, it’s Saturday and Sunday.
  • While shipping and financial services brands seem to have success launching between 6am and 9am, most marketers don’t recommend it.
  • The worst day to post on TikTok is Tuesday, then Monday, then Thursday.

Create an effective release plan

While engagement increases with each social network at certain times and days of the week, you still need to tailor your approach to your audience.

If you don’t have enough data yet, use this data as a guide. Once you start posting regularly and have collected data, look at it to determine when your audience is most active on the platform and which posting schedules they respond the most to.

You may find that certain content types work better when published at a certain time. For example, your video might perform well when posted in the morning, while your image might perform better in the late afternoon.
